Interior Design Assistant
We are looking for a creative, organized candidate to assist our design team with all aspects of furnishing new model homes and stagings, from conceptual designs to setting up furnishings in homes. Candidates must be available to work flexible part-time hours at our office or on job sites Monday-Friday during regular business hours (8am - 4:45pm). Our perfect candidate has had some exposure to the interior design world through formal education, an internship, or merchandising experience. This would be an excellent position for new college graduates! We have a lively work environment and are looking for a motivated candidate with an eye for detail who enjoys a variety of tasks and can be flexible with our ever-changing schedule. This is a physical position that requires being up and moving for most of the day.
Pay Rate and Benefits
Starting pay for this position is $20 to $24 per hour based on experience. Our new Interior Design Assistant will begin on a part-time (less than 30 hours per week) basis as needed, with the opportunity to advance into a full-time position. Benefits are available to employees after 3 months of full-time employment. We offer a fun, dynamic work environment with therapy dogs at the ready every day!
Key Job Responsibilities
Assist with selecting, packing, loading, and unloading furnishings at warehouse and job sites for staging and model home projects
Unpack and set up furnishings and décor in new homes
Iron window treatments and bedding
Help to prepare and clean work areas before and after installations
Organize and maintain staging areas in the warehouse
Assist designers with the creation of preliminary plans and design concepts
Using space planning skills to create and interpret floorplans
Periodic lifting and moving of smaller items (boxes, bags of pillows/bedding, lamps, etc.) and furnishings up to 50 lbs. as needed
Monitoring company purchases and maintaining project status updates
Participate in communications between MCI personnel and clients
Essential Skills
Some knowledge of interior design concepts, including familiarity with design influencers and high-end retailers
Passion for visual creativity and presentation of spaces
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Able to be physically active at work every day
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Enjoys working independently and as part of a team
Requirements
Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (required)
College degree or some college (preferred)
At least one year of experience in an office environment (preferred)
AutoCAD knowledge, Mac proficiency, and interior design experience are huge assets!
Must be able to travel on occasional overnight trips out of town
Must be capable of occasional independent driving in a company vehicle up to 6 hours to jobsites as needed (all drive time is paid)
Must have reliable transportation and smartphone with internet access
